Case study
AVL is a platform for the unified management of shopping centres and the related services offered to customers. It encompasses several modules, mobile native apps, PWAs, web-based admin dashboards, and phisycal marketing material.
The project aims to offer an integrated multichannel customer base management experience to companies managing shopping centers. The main focus from a UI perspective are the customer modules (native apps, and PWA).
The main challenge of the AVL Platform has been designing an interface easy to white-label since the final customer intends to resell the product to different shopping centers.
Beside that, I also had to take in mind the concept of graceful degradation defining which one of the UI elements and transitions were suitable only for native apps, and which ones could be implementated in a PWA as well.
As a UX designer I have been involved in the research phase, establishing the feasibility of certain user interactions and helping defining the product requirements before sumbitting them to the software engineers. Using Figma as a collaboration tool I refined the design in several iterations.
After the design had been signed off, I handed over a Figma mockup, and a prototype, to the team of software engineers responsible of implementing the apps, assisting them when needed to export media assets, and clarify the intended user journey.
