Case study

AFL Matchday Checklist

AFL Matchday Checklist is an app, available for iOS and Android platforms, that allows teams belonging to the Australian Football League, to digitally complete and sumbit the mandatory safety checklist before any event organized in all Australian states.

The main objective of the project has been to digitalize a process traditionally done on paper, enhancing the user experience and drastically reducing the amount of time and effort needed to comply with the league regulations.

Challenge

The main challenge of the AFL Checklist product has been designing a user journey that was easy to adopt in an offline first app where most of the features are meant to be available without network connectivity.

As well as challenges of high diversity and frequent turnover of the user base which required extra care to reduce the friction.

My role

As a UX designer I took part in various meetings with different stakeholders, to understand the business process, and thus be able to design a digital product that could satisfy the requirements. Using Figma as a collaboration tool, I refined the design in several iterations.

After the design had been signed off, I handed over a Figma mockup, and a prototype, to the team of software engineers responsible of implementing the apps, assisting them when needed to export media assets, and clarify the intended user journey.
